Every industry has its own terminology, so this guide will cover general international business and trade language. It's important to use the right words in the right context and having sample sentences is fundamental.

I have been teaching ESOL (English as a second language) for over 20 years now and originally graduated in Export Marketing Management

I also run a digital marketing agency ZQ Digital... This has given me a global outlook as far as sales & marketing are concerned.

I've always written book reviews & poetry, so I naturally fell into teaching. It was my love of travel and learning a second business language Spanish, that attracted me to teaching abroad in Barcelona & Istanbul

I've worked with business people and company owners from many industries. This has given me an insight into different industries and how business is done.

Tip #1 - Select the new words and phrases that are not familiar to you

There is no need to spend time on words you already know. Take a look at ones that look like they would be useful or more relevant to your industry or job role

Read the definitions and decide if the word is a noun, a verb, adjective or other, think of synonyms and antonyms and other forms that you can remember.

Tip #2 - Take a look at the phonetic spelling (in Blue)

This is really how the word should be pronounced. Don't feel daunted about the symbols, they're quite easy to understand once you have a basic introduction to phonetics.

I will explain this as we go along as well as send you a chary before the session. It's best to print this out and hang it up somewhere so you can get familiar with it more easily.

"I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it. – Pablo Picasso.

Tip #3 - Write 3 true sentences that make it real for you

Think of some situations and write sentences. Make them true sentences. Not just from your memory of an example. If you can write 3 sentences & use them in your life or working environment, that will be better.

Tip #4 - Ask a native whether your sentence is ok

Armed with your 3 sentences, you now need verification, that your sentence is correct, concise, understandable, logical and grammatically correct Try them on your teacher or a Native English speaker.

Remember to be very selective about your vocabulary. It should be appropriate for your English level and something you would really use today, if not tomorrow!
